Gridiron Gab Rapid Recap: Jets Convert Second Chance in OT; Top Dolphins 23-20

Close, but not close enough.

That’s the feeling that Dan Carpenter and the Dolphins have as they were oh-so-close to topping the Jets Sunday afternoon at Sun Life Stadium.

Instead, it’s a valuable lesson for Joe Philbin and his staff, as the Fins fell to the Jets 23-20 in overtime. Jets kicker Nick Folk had a 33-yard field goal blocked by the Dolphins, but Philbin had called a timeout just before the kick.

Folk got a second chance, and this time it was good.

The Dolphins had their own shot for the win, but Carpenter missed from 48 yards in the OT period. The Jets drove from their own 38 to the Miami 15 with their second possession of the extra period.
