Gridiron Gab Rapid Recap – Texans 2-0 After Pounding Jaguars 27-7

The Texans made sure not to have a let down in Florida on Sunday, taking care of the rival Jaguars 27-7 with big days from the big Houston playmakers.

Matt Schaub
was 26-for-35 for 195 yards, but avoided any picks and was able to keep the teams offense in check all afternoon.

Arian Foster set the Texans all-time rushing record, going for 110 yards on 28 carries with a touchdown. Fellow back Ben Tate had 74 yards on 12 carries with two scores.

The Texans defense lowered the boom on the Jaguars offense, holding Maurice Jones-Drew to 60 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown on a reception.

Houston built up a 17-0 lead midway through the second quarter on a field goal, and touchdowns each by Foster and Tate.

Blaine Gabbert was just 7-for-19 for 53 yards and a touchdown. This after last week it appeared he had turned the corner in an OT loss to the Vikings.

Chad Henne played late for the Jags, going 2-for-2 for 23 yards.

The Texans improved to 2-0 for the third consecutive season by winning their fourth in a row against the AFC South rival Jaguars, who started 0-2 for the third time in the last five years.

Jacksonville, which has never had a winning record after dropping its first two games, was far from competitive in the latest meeting.

The Texans gained 242 yards in the first half while building a 17-0 lead, and on the day held the Jags to just 117 total yards of offense.
