It will be somewhat emotional as long time NFL TE Tony Gonzalez is returning to face the Chiefs, beginning what figures to be his last season to try to finally win a playoff game, and for sure the last time he plays in Arrowhead.
It’s one of the storylines as the Falcons, a team that needs to take another step forward in 2012, take on the Chiefs in week one of the NFL season in Kansas City.
The Falcons with Matt Ryan at the helm, should have a solid offense with pass catchers Julio Jones and Roddy White, along with running back Michael Turner.
“I think this is probably the most talented group we’ve had up to this point,” White said. “We can all run. I think our team’s fast. I think we play fast. I think it can be special.”
It will be up to the Chiefs D, with head coach Romeo Crennel leading the way, to figure out a way to stop Ryan and co. The Chiefs won’t have pass rusher Tamba Hali, who is suspended for the opener for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.
It’s a key to watch out for, as the Falcons will look to attack a young Chiefs secondary, and look to run right at the Chiefs defense.
For KC, Dwayne Bowe is back after a holdout, but he will have his hands full with a good ATL secondary. Matt Cassel needs to step up and have a good game, and Jammal Charles needs to carry the load if the Chiefs will walk out with a win.
I think the Chiefs are in trouble here, as the Falcons have big goals in 2012 on their mind, and I think with Ryan leading the way, Atlanta scores an early knockout of the Chiefs.
