In the “Draft Quote of the Day,” today we have Janoris Jenkins, the troubled Florida CB who has had plenty off the field issues, including busts for weed as well as being in a few fights in his day.
While his draft stock is heading down, Jenkins was quoted about his 4 children with three women recently in the Palm Beach Post, thinking that having multiple children with a number of women isn’t an issue whatsoever.
“It’s weird because I had those kids while I was playing college football and it didn’t affect me not once,” said Jenkins, who is from Pahokee. “I’m proud to have my four kids. If they want to throw that in my face, so be it.
“Everybody has kids. Where in the book do it say you can’t have kids? It doesn’t say that in the law. I’m a great father. I’m there whenever they need me.”
Hmmm…and that could all be true about being there when they need him and all that. Evidently NFL GM’s disagree, as Mel Kiper Jr. was quoted in the same article on Jenkins:
“If he had no red flags, he would be, at worst, in the top 20, probably top 17 because Cincinnati is picking No. 17 and needs a corner,” Kiper said. “He could still be in the mix. The Lions need a corner desperately at No. 23.”
But even at 23, his stock has fallen since many felt he could be in the top 15 when he announced he was going back to school back in January of 2011.
Good luck with those kids Janoris, maybe the Jets will draft him and he and Antonio Cromartie, who has fathered ten children with eight women living in six states, can have a contest on who can procreate the most
