This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.
For those who are shocked to see that the Philadelphia Eagles are trying to deal away play-making cornerback Asante Samuel — think about it. Samuel, although a defensive asset that can make big plays, is also a 31-year old on the downturn of his career. He’s done in Philly.
The end of the Samuel Era of defense was really marked when the Eagles traded for Dominique Rogers-Cromartie and signed Nnamdi Asomugha, the team just didn’t have time to unload him last off-season due to the lockout. This has been a forgone conclusion, and now that Philadelphia is looking to amass draft picks, there has never been a more perfect time to send Samuel packing to whichever team offers the Eagles the highest offer.
