Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland Paid a Visit to Check on Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill

A Dolphins team source confirmed Wednesday that General Manager Jeff Ireland will be on the road this weekend to see a couple of quarterbacks, among other prospects.

Up first for Ireland was a trip to College Station, Texas, Thursday to see Texas A&M’s Ryan Tannehill conduct a workout for scouts.

Tannehill, who played for current Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman for the past four years with the Aggies, is generally considered the third-best quarterback prospect in the draft and is a possibility for the Dolphins with the No. 8 draft pick.

“If Cleveland doesn’t take him at No. 4, I have to believe the Dolphins will take him at No. 8,” NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock said.

Ireland’s itinerary will then take him to Arizona State on Friday to check out Brock Osweiler. He started only one season for the Sun Devils and is expected to go in the second through fourth rounds.

The Dolphins are allowed to host up to 30 players at their training facility, but there is no limit to how many workouts Ireland can attend on the college campuses.
