A Mid-Season Reflection

It’s hard to believe that the football season is halfway over.  It seems like just yesterday I was waiting for the opening game.

The anticipation for that first game of the 2011 season was at a level like I haven’t seen in a long time.  After the threat of the strike, I was relieved that the NFL season was going to start as planned and of course I couldn’t wait to watch my Green Bay Packers again.

Pretty much anywhere I went that day, everyone was proudly decked out in their favorite Packer gear.  People were so proud of “their” team and couldn’t wait to see what the new season would bring.  After winning the Super Bowl, I was pretty sure that 2011 was going to be magical.

And boy, has it ever been…..The Green Bay Packers are now 9-0 and show no signs of slowing down.  They are as fun as ever to watch and continue to amaze week after week.

Firs there is the defense.  They have had their ups and downs, but there is nothing like watching Clay Matthews sack a quarterback.

The rookie Randall Cobb has amazed us with his speed.

The Green Bay Packer receivers are a group like no other.  Driver, Jennings, Finley, Nelson…I am sure I am leaving out probably another 10 or 20 playmakers, but they are all awesome.  I never tire of watching them.  They can all catch passes that look impossible to even touch.

Finally, the man himself, Aaron Rodgers. Week after week I am wowed by him on and off the field. It’s no doubt he is a great quarterback. Just when I think he can’t impress me anymore, he has another great play, like that TD throw to Nelson in the Monday night Vikings game. I think he is an incredibly humble man and a class act.

I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season will bring.  Maybe a 16-0?  Who knows….I would bet that it will be exciting to watch.

What are your thoughts on the season so far?
