Albert Haynesworth Waived By Patriots

The best NFL teams often don’t completely gel until they last two-three games games of the year.

Patriots fans are hoping that’s the case with this year’s team. The two big acquisitions many thought would put them over the top – WR Chad Ochocinco and Albert Haynesworth – haven’t been on the field very much as the Patriots have one more loss than they had at the finish of 2010. Now, Albert Haynesworth has been waived. Teams have 24 hours to claim him, but it would likely need to be an organization with a different kind of locker room than that of the Patriots or Redskins that would make such a bold move.

Their most important and – after Stevan Ridley – second most promising draft pick, CB Ras-I Dowling, has been placed on IR. Leigh Bodden and Brandon Meriweather, Patriots INT leaders from 2009, have been cut. The Patriots defense – placing 20th in points allowed – has had to survive injuries and it will be fun to see who the Patriots add to replace Haynesworth and if any team takes a chance on Albert.

UPDATE! Patriots TE Dan Gronkowski has been released for the second time this season. The Patriots have promoted Tiquan Underwood off their practice squad and released OT Thomas Welch from the practice squad.

Hit “Like” if your faith in Bill Belichick does not waver.
