According to multiple reports the Seahawks have struck a deal with their first undrafted free agent, agreeing to terms with former Boise State Bronco Jeron Johnson.
During his three seasons as the Broncos full time starter. He racked up 272 tackles and eight interceptions along with a forced fumble and a sack as well.
Expect many more undrafted free agent announcements throughout the night.
This was an interesting tidbit, Sports Illustrated recently stated many had a fourth round grade on Johnson and that his stock fell due to a hamstring injury. On their list of top 10 available undrafted rookies, Johnson checks in at No. 3 overall.
Wow, I am actually getting excited about undrafted rookies… Who cares? It’s football time again! It sounds like this may be a Walter Thurmond esque pickup. With Seattle expected to target cornerbacks like Jonathan Joseph, Antonio Cromartie, and Richard Marshall; Thurmond seems primed to become the full time nickel back.
Johnson comes in at a position of need with the aged Lawyer Milloy needing replacing. Again, with their large budget,
I wouldn’t be surprised to see them in the Eric Weddle or Quintin Mikell derby either. This gives Seattle two young safeties to groom behind breakout candidate (and equally young) Earl Thomas.
