0-3 Niners fire offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye

UPDATE: According to ESPN.com Quarterbacks coach Mike Johnson has been promoted to call the shots.  Johnson is the 49ers’ eighth offensive coordinator in eight seasons.

Someone had to fall on the sword in San Fran after the teams 31-10 thrashing at the hands of the Chiefs on Sunday, and it appears that it is offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye.

Reports from Jason LaCanfora from NFL.com state that Raye has been fired, this from a team that was supposed to be a contender in the NFC West who is now 0-3 and in two road games has been outscored 62-16.

San Fran yesterday had just 251 total yards of offense, 11 first downs, and held the ball for just 26:10. The team lost their opener 31-6 in Seattle, hung in but lost to the Saints 25-22, and now have lost to the Chiefs.

Coach Mike Singletary gave Raye a vote of confidence after the game yesterday, which now means nothing that the Niners will move in another direction after their awful start.
