Jets fans can relax … for now.
All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis returned to the Jets’ Organized Team Activities today after skipping last Thursday’s session due to stalled contract negotiations. The Daily News first reported this morning that the Pro Bowler returned to the team’s Florham Park facility even though an agreement on a new deal hasn’t been reached yet.
Revis, who is entering the fourth year of his six-year rookie contract, received an offer from the team several weeks ago that included no guaranteed money up front, according to a source. The cornerback expressed his unhappiness with the terms of that offer by not attending last Thursday’s voluntary OTA session. Revis was more disappointed in the offer than anything else.
It was the first voluntary workout that he has missed this offseason.
Now it’s looking more and more like the Revis no show last week was Hard Knocks related. Rich Cimini first speculated about it last week and now I’m convinced. The one day Revis skips just so happens to be the first day HBO brought cameras to the Jets facility to start filming. Hardly a coincidence.
Hopefully, Revis continues to show up for OTAs and training camp and the two sides hammer out a deal that both sides are happy with.
