Last week we told you about Jared Allen’s amusement with Matthew Stafford being considered anything other than an over-paid rookie that hasn’t proven anything.
This week, it is Bobby Wade that is stirring the NFC North pot by saying that Brian Urlacher recently told him that Jay Cutler is a “pussy.” Wade says Urlacher made this characterization during a recent trip to Vegas. Wade and Urlacher are both friends and former teammates.
It had been previously reported that Urlacher had to be restrained as he tried to physically attack Cutler and succeeded in verbally attacking Cutler during OTAs earlier this year. Urlacher denied that report by simply saying, “If anything, I called him a few names for zipping balls by my head with that cannon he has. Me having to be restrained? That’s funny.”
This time Urlacher is also denying any problems with Cutler by saying, “Oh please. I don’t think I would ever say that about one of my teammates. Look, Bobby Wade’s a friend of mine. He’s trying to get things going before training camp. That’s just Bobby being Bobby. I’m pretty sure Jay knows I wouldn’t say that about him.”
While it’s not a secret that Bobby Wade is one the most honest and media friendly guys on the Vikings roster, Chip Scoggins at the Star Tribune seems to be hinting that he believes Wade was telling the truth, and that it wouldn’t make sense for him to make that up.
Regardless of the he-said-she-said (I in no way mean to use “she” as a way of describing Jay Cutler… I’m pretty sure Jay knows I wouldn’t say that about him) that will doubtless continue until this story fizzles, it has become apparent that the Vikings are maintaining a certain amount of swagger and confidence. Their training camp hasn’t even started yet and two of the team leaders are starting to attack their division rivals… starting with the quarterbacks.
I wonder who is going to say what about Aaron Rodgers next week.
