WR Matt Jones to Be Shopped on Draft Day?

Sporting News has reported that Jacksonville Jaguars WR Matt Jones will most likely be shopped around during draft weekend on April 26 and 27. The Jaguars last season’s prolific offense behind QB David Garrard, RB Fred Taylor and RB Maurice Jones-Drew proved to the coaches that some changes could be made to improve the offense. The coaches have gained a familiarity with each other and their offensive players.

With that, the team’s improvement calls for changes that began with the letting go of WR Ernest Wilford, now a Dolphin. Over the offseason the Jaguars traded for Troy Williamson (giving the Vikings their 6th Round Pick) and signed the former Raider WR Jerry Porter. The addition of Williamson and Porter to join WRs Dennis Northcutt, Reggie Williams and Mike Walker should make for an interesting set of receivers for the spread-it-out Garrard.

Why wouldn’t Cincy give up one of it’s extra picks for him? I would give up a 5th rounder for him and he could step in as the tall vertical threat that Chris Henry was and not bring on all the baggage.

Titans? Vikings? Bears? Bills? Dolphins? 49ers? Broncos? Raiders? Chiefs? Steelers?

Those are all teams that have been looking for WRs. I could see him going to any of those teams before or on draft day for a mid to late round pick. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him in gold and black next season for the Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger stated that he wanted a tall WR for the endzone and height is one thing that Jones has.
