The Titans are getting antsy with the Chris Brown situation, and the Tennessean is reporting that the team wants an answer from the running back by Tuesday. GM Mike Reinfeldt told the paper “It would behoove both sides to have it done before then.” The delima that faces Brown is a return to his former team, the Titans, or a possible move to his hometown of Chicago, where he would play for the Bears and be the backup to starter Cedric Benson.
On Thursday the agent for Brown, Wynn Silberman, said that the choices were down to Tennesse and Chicago. The 5th-year pro was largely unused last season with the Titans, and early on in the season Travis Henry took over as the starter and was effective, while late in the year rookie back LenDale White took over as the backup. In Chicago, Thomas Jones was traded in the offseason to the Jets, leaving Benson as the feature back.
“It’s interesting,” Silberman said Thursday to the paper. “We just don’t know what the best situation is at this point. Both teams are stating their cases.” Brown did have a solid career in Tennesse before being let go, as he started in 25 or 26 games in 04 and 05. He had six 100-yard games and his first 1,000-yard season in his second year. “I think this is the best place for him,” Reinfeldt said. “Hopefully he will see it that way, too.”
