Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl Preview, Michigan State vs. Texas Christian (10 PM ET on ESPN)
Team ranks: Michigan State is 109th in PPG, 10th in PPG allowed; TCU is 64th in PPG, 35th in PPG allowed.
NFL Draft prospects: For Michigan State, CB Johnny Adams (6th round), RB Le’Veon Bell (Junior, 3rd round), K Dan Conroy (7th round-undrafted), DE William Gholston (Junior, 3rd round), OG Chris McDonald (7th round-undrafted), DT Anthony Rashad White (6th round); For TCU, WR Skye Dawson (7th round-undrafted), OG Blaize Foltz (7th round), RB Matthew Tucker (7th round-undrafted).
Prediction: Michigan State is hungry from losing 5 games by four points or less. Both head coaches Mark Dantonio and Gary Patterson are pretty consistent, but Michigan State’s run game will likely be used creatively with all the time off. In their regular season finale, Spartan RB Le’Veon Bell dropped 266 yards rushing on the Minnesota Golden Gopher defense. 32 for 177. Maybe the lay-off helps TCU. However, I’m thinking the opposite. Michigan State is also loaded on defense. MSU QB Andrew Maxwell’s worst performances in the categories of sacks (vs. Notre Dame), yards-per-attempt (vs. Notre Dame), and INTs (vs. Boise State) all happened before September 16th. His worst yardage performance was vs. Nebraska 11/3, but their pass defense is much better than their run D. Michigan State 35, TCU 28.
