The passing game for the Minnesota Vikings recently notched its fifth game of the season with under 145 net passing yards. Today, their top receiver – Percy Harvin – was placed on IR with 667 yards and 3 TDs in 8 games. His season is over.
Head coach Leslie Frazier today insinuated that there were non-injury factors also keeping Harvin from practicing, but insisted that Harvin wants to win just like he does.
The Vikings passing offense is wasting the prime of running back Adrian Peterson’s career, and it’s truly a shame.
Most will blame QB Christian Ponder, but OC Bill Musgrave has been fired as an OC before, and the Falcons apparently didn’t attempt to re-sign current Vikings WR Michael Jenkins.
Similarly, the Bengals didn’t seem to try to bring back current Vikings WR Jerome Simpson, and their corps has looked better without him. The same goes for WR Devin Aromashodu, who was benched in Chicago, only to start for the Vikings a year later.
Frazier took a veiled shot at WRs Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson and Mike Sims-Walker – who are part of the free agent crop – when he said you won’t find a special WR falling in your lap at this time of the year. Team after team (including the Bears) have turned down Terrell Owens, despite him looking good and physical in Seahawks practice. Watch as the Bears and Vikings continue to struggle passing the ball this Sunday. WR Earl Bennett will not play for Chicago against Minnesota. Kickoff is at 1 PM ET Sunday in Minneapolis.
