NFL Gridiron Gab Editor Matt Loede’s NFL Picks For Week Nine

Last Week 10-4
Season 71-45

Miami at Indianapolis – This will be a fun game with two young QB’s going at it tooth and nail. While the Fins have played well, I like the home team and Andrew Luck, and think luck will be on the side of the Colts Sunday. Indianapolis 21 Miami 19

Buffalo at Houston – This is all Texans, and even with the return of Mario Williams for the Bills, they don’t have the firepower with Ryan Fitzpatrick to match up with the tough Houston D. Look for the Texans to get to 7-1 with ease. Houston 31 Buffalo 17

Baltimore at Cleveland – The Ravens have owned the series, and even with the Browns playing better, it won’t be enough to get a win Sunday as the Ravens run game with Ray Rice will do enough to extend their dominance over Cleveland. Baltimore 17 Cleveland 13

Denver at Cincinnati – Tough call with the Broncos and Peyton playing well and the Bengals coming off the bye week. I think Manning will be able to pick apart the Bengals secondary, but the Bengals will have enough offense to find a way to break their losing streak. Cincinnati 20 Denver 17

Chicago at Tennessee – The Chicago D has done the job all season, but they almost had a letdown last week, and I think here Matt Hasselbeck and the Titans will find just enough to squeak out a home win, with Chris Johnson having a good day vs the Bears run D. Tennessee 14 Chicago 10

Detroit at Jacksonville – The Lions finally got things going at home last week vs the Hawks, and how play a Jags team that nearly upset the Pack last week. Look for the Lions to continue with their offensive charge from a week ago, and to take out the Jags with some big plays down the field. Detroit 27 Jacksonville 21

Arizona at Green Bay – The Cards offense simply has to play better, as they are 31st in the NFL averaging 289.9 yards. The Cardinals possess the league’s sixth-ranked defense, though, giving up 312.8 yards per game. That said, Aaron Rodgers and the Pack are simply too strong, and they will take home an easy win here to get to the bye week 6-3. Green Bay 24 Arizona 13

Carolina at Washington – Last week the Skins were beat up, while the Panthers played well but failed in the end to close out the Bears. Look for the Redskins to get back to form, with Robert Griffin III outplaying Cam Newton, and taking home a big win. Washington 24 Carolina 21

Minnesota at Seattle – The Vikings couldn’t stop Doug Martin last week, and this week they take on another big back in Marshawn Lynch. Russell Wilson has played well at home, and the Hawks will get a win here with Lynch and Wilson playing well and Christian Ponder struggling. Seattle 21 Minnesota 13

Tampa Bay at Oakland – A SB rematch from near a decade ago, the Bucs played well in their win over the Vikings, and now have their sights set on the Raiders, winners of two in a row. Oakland nearly stumbled in their last home game vs the Jags, and here will recover enough to get their third win in a row with Darren McFadden having over 100 and two scores. Oakland 20 Tampa Bay 10

Pittsburgh at New York Giants – Tough game, with the way the Steelers have played on the road, the Giants have the edge with the crowd on their side. Look for both QB’s to have solid days, but look for Eli Manning to make one more play down the stretch that will lift the Giants to a big win. New York Giants 27 Pittsburgh 20

Dallas at Atlanta – The Falcons have been great in their 7-0 start, and their secondary will be tough to throw on with Tony Romo making mistake after mistake. Look for a couple more turnovers, and for the Falcons to get a huge home win over the stumbling Cowboys. Atlanta 30 Dallas 17

Monday:

Philadelphia at New Orleans – Wow, what to do with two teams that sorely need a win. The Saints took it on the chin in Denver, while the Eagles were not very good vs the Falcons. Look for New Orleans to have a better night on offense, and while Mike Vick will force plays, he won’t finish this game after two more interceptions. New Orleans 27 Philadelphia 23
