Gridiron Gab Week Eight Preview – New England vs St.Louis (in London)

Here are my 3 keys to a Rams victory against the Patriots:

1 Pass

2 Blitz

3 Cover

The Patriots have the 29th ranked pass defense in the NFL and have already given up 16 passing TDs this season (tied for the most in the league).  Outside of tossing in a few runs to keep the defense honest, the rams need to pass pass pass.   We need to pass out of the back field, pass out of the slot, and pass the long ball baby.  If Jackson or Richardson can break off a long run that would be beautiful thing, but in this game we’ve got to work the Patriot’s weaknesses.

The much improved Rams defense has 21 sacks in the last 7 games.  If we can get pressure on Brady the same as the Packers, then maybe slick Tom will make some mistakes just like he did against the Pack.  When Tom has time to sit back and go through his progressions he is deadly.  Brady operates like a master chef while your defense becomes the duck liver fattened by gavage.  Pass after pass shoved down your throat until all that is left (of your defense) is a rich buttery pate (or pate de foie gras).  Rams TE Long had a bad game against the Packers (not one QB pressure scored).  Look for Long to really push the envelope against the Patriots.   Look for pressure from DE Quinn on the other side and up the middle via DT Brockers.
