NFL Gridiron Gab Editor Matt Loede’s NFL Picks For Week Four

Last Week 6-9
Season 25-21

San Francisco at NY Jets – The Niners defense got beat up last week vs the Vikings, and will stay in the East to prepare for the Jets. NY got a break in a win in Miami, and I think this week the San Fran D will step up and make it a long day in a defensive game for Mark Sanchez and the New York offense. San Francisco 17 NY Jets 13

Seattle at St.Louis – Everyone is still talking about the Seattle robbery from Monday night, but it’s the defense that everyone seems to forget about. They got after Aaron Rodgers, and will again against Sam Bradford, as the Seahawks run over the Rams to get to 3-1 on the season. Seattle 21 St.Louis 10

Carolina at Atlanta – Love the Falcons at home, as they have dominated this series and Cam Newton in the two games they played against him. Matty Ice is playing great, and the Falcons are #1 in our power rankings this week, and will show it again with a big win over their NFC South rivals. Atlanta 27 Carolina 14

Minnesota at Detroit – The Vikings have quietly played very well on defense so far in 2012, and I think Detroit is simply out of wack right now, and haven’t played anywhere near last season. Matt Stafford is banged up, and Christian Ponder is playing very well. I look for the slight upset here, as the Vikings get to 3-1. Minnesota 23 Detroit 17

San Diego at Kansas City – The Bolts came down to earth last week with an awful home game vs the Falcons, while the Chiefs showed fight and came back down 23-6 to finally top the Saints in OT. I like the resolve of the Chiefs, and I think their defense will do enough to stop Philip Rivers and look for Jammal Charles to have a good game again. Kansas City 20 San Diego 14

Tennessee at Houston – The Texans are already looking like a Super Bowl team, and this is an interesting test for them after their big win in Denver last week. The Titans finally showed life putting up 44 with Jake Locker having a huge game vs the Lions. I think this will be close, but the Texans D will find a way to force some turnovers to get a big home win to get to 4-0. Houston 29 Tennessee 21

New England at Buffalo – The Pats are reeling a bit, 1-2, not playing good D, and their offense needs more from the run game. They have a shot to turn it around in Buffalo, where they lost last season to Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Bills. Buffalo is hopeful to get Fred Jackson back, and their defense played well vs the Browns. They need to pressure Brady, and I think they will enough to pull off the home upset. Buffalo 27 New England 26

Cincinnati at Jacksonville – The Bengals offense came to life last week in DC, and will look to do the same in JVille. Andy Dalton and A.J. Green are quickly becoming a great 1-2 punch, and will look to test that Jags secondary. Look for more points from the Bengals, while the Jags don’t get enough from MJD and Blaine Gabbert to keep up. Cincinnati 31 Jacksonville 17

Oakland at Denver – It’s put up or shut up for Peyton Manning, as he’s not been the same QB after that week one win over the Steelers. Look for Oakland to try to make him uncomfortable and force mistakes from him. Oakland gave up a lot of yards vs Pittsburgh last week, but pulled out a last second win. Carson Palmer looked like a totally different QB from the first half to the second. I like Denver, but it wouldn’t shock me to see the Raiders win. Denver 23 Oakland 20

Miami at Arizona – Arizona is a quiet 3-0, and their defense should be able to dominate a Dolphins offense that has struggled, and is hurting as Reggie Bush went down with a knee injury last week, and won’t be 100 percent if he plays at all. I love the way Kevin Kolb is playing, and like the Cards to get to 4-0. Arizona 27 Miami 10

Washington at Tampa Bay – RG3 in Tampa vs a Bucs D that will look to shut him down like the Bengals did a week ago. It starts with the Bucs front line, and they have to make sure to try and contain Griffin and keep him in the pocket. Tampa is playing hard for their new coaching staff, and I think they will have enough offense with Josh Freeman and company to win a hard fought game. Tampa Bay 23 Washington 17

New Orleans at Green Bay – A huge game for both teams, as the Pack are 1-2, the Saints are 0-3. I think the play of the QB’s will decide this game, as Aaron Rodgers needs to get the ball down the field, and Drew Brees needs to avoid mistakes against a Packers team that will be steaming after the Monday night debacle. I think Rodgers finds 1-2 more plays, and the Saints wake up Monday 0-4. Green Bay 31 New Orleans 23

NY Giants at Philadelphia – The Eagles are 2-1, but came down to earth last week vs a good Cards defense in the desert. The Eagles are having issues on offense, and I think the Giants D will get some turnovers, setting up short fields for Eli Manning and the Giants. Look for a physical game, but in the end, the G-Men will get to 3-1 with a solid 10-point win. NY Giants 24 Philadelphia 14

Chicago at Dallas – Wasn’t all that impressed with Dallas a week ago, as they struggled on offense just to score 16 vs the Bucs. Now they have to face Jay Cutler and the Bears, who dominated the Rams at home a week ago. I think these teams are pretty close on paper, but I have been on the Bears bandwagon, and I think Cutler and Brandon Marshall make a few more plays to send Tony Romo home a loser and the Cowboys at 2-2. Chicago 27 Dallas 19
