Mayor of Green Bay Ticked Over MNF Ending; Result Swings Huge Amounts of Gambled Money

From: TMZ

The Mayor of Green Bay is so pissed about last night’s game — where replacement refs ROBBED the Packers of a win — he’s going straight to the NFL’s head honcho to demand the real refs get back on the job … TMZ has learned.

Mayor James Schmitt tells TMZ he’s drafting a letter to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell … urging him to end the ref lockout because it’s compromising the integrity of the NFL … as evidenced by last night’s game.

Exhibit A — last night’s refs robbing the Packers of a win by incorrectly calling Green Bay’s interception in the endzone …a touchdown for the Seattle Seahawks. The Pack lost 14-12.

Schmitt says, “This is not right. I understand talent costs money, but when it comes to the crucial role of the referees … it has to be a top priority.”

Hizzoner is in a unique position because he’s also a shareholder in the Green Bay Packers — the only NFL team publicly owned.

But the Mayor makes it clear … “We are not protesting losing the game. We are protesting the quality of officiating.”

Then there was a statement put out by Sportsbook Manager, Kevin Bradley, on last night’s refereeing debacle may be of interest to you.

“Never have I seen such an egregious call that represented such a huge swing in money. With 75% of pre-game action on the Packers, last night’s game-ending play goes down as one of the most significant last minute money swings in recent betting memory, and certainly the most controversial. Even the Super Bowl odds have been impacted as the Packers went from 7/1 to 17/2 and the Seahawks went from 60/1 to 30/1.It’s unfortunate that the referees and not the players are determining outcomes of NFL games.”

Almost as dire as the call on the field is this habit of NFL broadcasters: always include a shot of the team owner in his private and then lick his boots on air. Here’s my blog rant about it:

It’s a joke (the NFL). A game is actually decided by an official.
