Oakland Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey is in stable condition but will stay overnight at the hospital after suffering a neck injury that knocked him unconscious for 11 minutes in a potentially season-saving 34-31 win. Heyward-Bey was hit by FS Ryan Mundy, who was not flagged for launching himself helmet-to-helmet. Mundy and players for both teams kneeled and prayed for him, as trainers attended to him.
The Raiders have been plagued by the same problems on offense as the Dolphins and Jets: Lack of explosion at wide receiver, lack of consistent line play, inaccuracies at quarterback. This victory showed Denarius Moore is back, but Darren McFadden stole the show with 18 rushes, 113 yards and 1 TD. While no receiver caught a pass for more than 18 yards, Raiders QB Carson Palmer finished with 209 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT against the Steelers defense.
