Report: Replacement Officials Set to Stick Around at Least Through Week 5

For those hoping that a rough week of watching replacement refs was enough to get the real thing back on the field – think again.

The Associated Press is reporting that as of now, the replacement officials are going to be sticking around for awhile, as the NFL has devised a temporary five-week setup for using the replacement refs.

The regular on-field officials are locked out and replacements worked the preseason and the first week of the regular season.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the league has not made public officiating schedules.

There was a number of mistakes on Sunday, and while there wasn’t a game-changing call in any game, you just know that one of these replacement refs at one point is going to screw up a call and cost a team a game.
