Gridiron Gab Rapid Recap: Ryan and Falcons Bomb Chiefs 40-24

The Falcons made an early statement on Sunday, pounding the Kansas City Chiefs in the opener in Arrowhead Stadium 40-24.

The KC defense was torched by Matt Ryan and the Falcons for 40 points, as Ryan was 23-for-31 for 299 yards with three touchdowns.

Atlanta went off for 376 yards, with the Chiefs secondary, a work in progress, having no answer for 2nd year WR Julio Jones, who went off for 6 grabs for 108 yards with two scores.

Former Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez had 5 grabs for 53 yards with a score in what will be likely his final game at Arrowhead Stadium.

Overall not much good but a whole lot that the Chiefs will be able to work on after watching this game tape on Monday. Matt Cassel was 21-for-33 for 258 yards with 1 TD and two picks.

It was an impressive display for the Falcons, who have their sights set on bigger and better in 2012, while KC has a ton of work to do.
