It’s a week one showdown as the new look Redskins travel to the Superdome to take on Drew Brees and the Saints. It’s a matchup where fans will finally get to see what new Skins QB Robert Griffin III can bring to the table.
He better bring quite a bit, as the Saints are none too happy about missing their coach, along with their veteran defensive leader in Jonathan Vilma after an offseason of being scolded.
New Orleans still has a potent offense, and the Redskins need to pressure Brees with a pass rush, but that’s easier said than done. Brees is always cool under fire, and against the Skins he will have a big day.
The Redskins have to find a way to control the clock, so look for the game plan at least early to involve running the ball with Alfred Morris, who ran for 195 yards and a score on 39 preseason carries.
Griffin needs to be just about spot on against the Saints who will try to throw the book at him in week one and make for a long day for the rookie. I think the Saints have the edge on both sides of the ball, making this an easy week one route.
