BREAKING: Jonathan Vilma and Will Smith Can Play on Sunday

A three-member appeals court overturned Roger Goodell’s suspensions of Saints LB Jonathan Vilma and DE Will Smith as well as the suspensions of former Saints DE Anthony Hargrove and former Saints LB/current Browns LB Scott Fujita, who was suspended for alleged bounty partipation.

This is huge news for the Saints. The result could be that they cut LB Barrett Ruud before his roster presence would cause them to have to send a draft pick to the Seahawks.

It might end up being a rough week-long span for Goodell, as the replacement officials – not just the best crew, which worked Thursday’s game – are going to take the field Sunday and Monday.

On the other hand, NFL football is back and so are Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Ray Lewis, Troy Polamalu, and Jay Cutler, as well as five heralded rookies debuting. A number of stars, however, may sit out (Arian Foster, James Harrison) and others may not be 100% (Adrian Peterson, Denarius Moore, Stevie Johnson and Brian Urlacher).
