The kickoff of the 2012 NFL season gets underway with a big NFC East Prime Time matchup, as the Cowboys travel to Metlife Stadium to take on the Giants.
I can make this pick rather short and sweet – the Cowboys are 0-7 on NBC (which is showing tonight’s game) and the Super Bowl Champs have never lost the “Kickoff” game since it was moved to Thursday (even though this is on Wednesday).
The emotion of this game is always at a fever pitch, and the Cowboys will be looking for a little revenge after losing in the finale last season, which kicked them out of the postseason.
The Giants were a wild card Super Bowl champ for the second time in five seasons, and I think like they did the season after they won the title in 07, they will be a better regular season team, and it will start tonight.
Eli Manning and his core of wide outs will try to pick on the new Cowboys secondary, and with Michael Jenkins just coming back from injury, the Giants could try to test him quite a bit.
I think New York is going to be able to score on this revamped D, and like last seasons Saints-Packers opener, this could turn into a wild west shootout, with Tony Romo and company coming up just short in what should be an entertaining opener.
