Patriots Cut Brian Hoyer, James Ihedigbo

The Patriots have released former #2 QB Brian Hoyer, according to sources.

In 3 years of spot relief for Tom Brady, Hoyer’s thrown one touchdown and one interception. His only attempt last season was a 22-yard completion to Rob Gronkowski. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, New England tried to trade him.

This preseason, he connected on 22 of 47, 46.8% of his passes for 196 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT working with back-ups. A team can claim him tomorrow at 12:00 PM ET.

The Patriots released S James Ihedigbo, who started 12 games for the Pats last season and had 5 sacks while with the Jets.

UPDATE! New England has cut C Dan Koppen and WR Deion Branch, sure to be signed by other teams.
