Check Out NFL AP Pro32 Comments on Ranking the Jets

Just like how the AP comes out with their Top 25 College Football rankings, they are now polling NFL “experts” and releasing a ranking of all 32 teams. The New York Jets ranked 17th. Here’s how the “experts” ranked them. Probably the smartest comment came from John Lynch who – despite acknowledging leadership and chemistry issues (I personally don’t think this team lacks any leaders, and good weapons find a way to make an offense work) – said “…we forget it’s team that has won lots of football games since Rex Ryan arrived.”

Here’s how they voted:

Ira Kaufman, Tampa Tribune: 10
Cris Collinsworth, NBC Sports: 14
Chris Berman, ESPN: 15
Rich Gannon, CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio: 15
Bob Glauber, Newsday: 16
Rick Gosselin, Dallas Morning News: 17
John Lynch, Fox Sports: 17
Pat Kirwan, SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBS Sports: 18
Clifton Brown, Sporting News: 19
Clark Judge, CBS Sports: 22
Alex Marvez, Fox Sports: 22
Dan Pompei, Chicago Tribune: 22

My personal ranking is 12th, because I think offense is more important than defense in the today’s NFL. Their defense is – in my opinion – a little better than that of the Cowboys, Cardinals, Seahawks, and Giants and projects to be considerably better than most of those teams by the middle of the season but I have the Giants and Cowboys ahead of them because we power rankings are based on right now. Right now, the Giants and Cowboys have established weapons at wide receiver and tight end. They also have more of an ability to take deep shots right now. That said, Stephen Hill may develop into enough of a weapon that he and Holmes will stretch the field.
