With injuries mounting on their offensive line, the Vikings are bringing in a former Packer, as the team has signed Grant Cook, a 6-4, 318-pound guard that can also play tackle. The Vikings released undrafted rookie defensive end Eric Latimore to make room for Cook on the 90-man roster. – Minneapolis Star-Tribune

The Cowboys have lost their first-round pick for a bit, as cornerback Morris Claiborne left Friday’s practice to undergo an MRI on his knee. Coach Jason Garrett called the move “precautionary” after Claiborne alerted coaches that the knee began bothering him during drills. – Fort Worth Star-Telegram

49ers WR Michael Crabtree has never seen action in a preseason game, but that may change. Jim Harbaugh said Friday that Crabtree’s lower-leg injury wasn’t serious and he expects him to return to practice soon, putting him on the field at some point this preseason – San Francisco Chronicle
