Jets Coach Rex Ryan Not Giving Up on Winning the AFC East

By Tony Santorsa

When Rex Ryan arrived in New York three years ago, he come at saying that he wasn’t going to kiss Bill Belichick’s rings.

Since then, Ryan and the New York Jets have yet to win the AFC East while Belichick and the New England Patriots have been crowned champions in each of the three seasons—but Ryan isn’t conceding the divisional crown quite yet.

“Do I respect New England? The fact is they’ve won our division a zillion times. The three years I’ve been here, they’ve won it all three times, and I don’t think it’s been close. But I’ll never back down or concede anything. When you talk about conceding the division…yeah, right. Not me. There’s no chance here, not with the Jets.”

It’s definitely good to see that Ryan and the Jets are putting their best foot forward heading into the 2012 NFL season, but it’s going to have to take a lot to knock off the reigning 2011 AFC champs.
