Near holdout status. That’s the best way to describe the status of Jets CB Darrelle Revis.
The stud corner says that he was “close” to holding out yet again, but decided to show up to Jets training camp. Revis says that he went over all scenarios and possibilities with his agents.
He is seeking a long-term deal with the team, but Revis said he decided a “couple days ago” that he would report for the start of training camp at SUNY-Cortland.
“I want to be around the team,” Revis said Thursday evening. “I haven’t been to a lot of training camps in the past, so I just want to be here and get ready for this year. My focus right now is just trying to dominate again and do what I do best to help this team win.”
“Something’s got to happen sooner or later in terms of my future with the team,” Revis said. “I want to be here, and I hope Mike and Mr. Woody (Johnson) want me here, but besides that, I’ve just got to play football and keep on playing the best I can.”
