Jets fans can breathe a lot easier today.
For the last few weeks, the rumors ran hot and heavy that cornerback Darelle Revis would hold out for a new contract and not report to training camp, but never fear, Revis is aboard.
Revis reported to the team’s Florham Park facility this morning, a person with knowledge of his attendance confirmed, electing not to hold out for a third time in his six-year pro career.
Jets veterans will receive physicals and take their conditioning tests this morning before making the drive up to Cortland, N.Y., for training camp. When Revis held out in 2010, his intentions became clear when he did not show up for the physical or conditioning run.
Revis risked significant penalties if he did hold out. He would have lost a $1 million reporting bonus and daily fines, and been tied up for three more years at the modest price of $3 million per season.
