In the eventful offseason that followed Victor Cruz’s sudden rise and the Giants’ Super Bowl victory, he appeared on late-night television shows.
He presented a Grammy. He took part in photo shoots, commercials and fashion shows in the United States and abroad.
And he was invited to appear on “Dancing With the Stars.” He declined, but said he would consider it in the future.
Cruz is confident he will continue where he left off and prove that 2011 wasn’t a fluke.
“It’s just understanding that it’s not over,” Cruz said last week according to Jorge Castillo of the Newark Star-Ledger. “I still got some years ahead of me, I still got goals that I want to reach. It’s a short window in this league. I just got to approach every day like it’s my last.”
The motivation fueling this offseason’s workouts is the potential reward of a rich contract with another standout season. Whether the Giants decide to negotiate during the season or wait until after the season, Cruz says will be on the field regardless.
“I’m going to go out there and just take care of what my job is,” Cruz said. “That’s go out there and play football.”
