Raiders Extend Strong Safety Tyvon Branch

Strong safety Tyvon Branch
and the Oakland Raiders have agreed to terms on a four-year contract, the team announced Saturday. Branch, a 2011 Pro Bowl alternate in his fourth season, he has started 48 straight games entering 2012, having last missed a contest in 2008, as a rookie. The Raiders are 5-1 when he records a sack, and 6-0 when he gets a takeaway (3 fumble recoveries, 3 interceptions). Branch has 347 career tackles (267 solo), six sacks, 16 passes defensed and three forced fumbles in 56 games.

The Raiders have leaders in all three facets of the game. It’s time for the defense to get the right line-up to stop the run and make just enough stops on Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers and Matt Cassel to make a title run, after missing the playoffs at 8-8 to the Broncos due to tiebreakers.

Hit “Like” or the Facebook share button if you are glad Branch is locked in and not just a franchise player.
