According to those who’ve seen mini-camps for the Bills, Tyler Thigpen was the #2 quarterback for most of the time, with Vince Young sliding in at times. Buffalo head coach Chan Gailey has already made Brad Smith the #3 QB, so Young faces an uphill battle to win the remaining back-up spot to Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Young played pretty well for the Eagles, but had issues with turnovers and consistency, and ended up not being brought back to Philadelphia, who is almost certain to release one of their QB’s as they now have four (Vick, Edwards, Kafka, and Arizona rookie Nick Foles; it will likely be Edwards, as Kafka could be too hot of a commodity to make it through waivers onto the practice squad). Young went 1-2 as a starter last season.
His rival in the 2005 BCS title game, Matt Leinart, will be facing a tough challenge for the #2 spot in Oakland with Tyrelle Pryor (who has been learning from Rich Gannon this off-season).
