The Bears placed the franchise tag on running back Matt Forte this offseason. Forte wants a long-term deal and has skipped off-season work because he has not signed his franchise tender. Recently there was a report the Bears were reluctant to give Forte a big long term deal because of concern over whether his knees will hold up.
Apparently, the communication lines between the Bears and Forte are open and the news regarding his contract sounds better, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
“Last year we were worlds apart, but it’s gotten better,” said Forte on Friday at the EA Madden 2013 Pigskin Pro-Am in Chicago.
