LaDainian Tomlinson has decided to call it quits, ending an 11-year career that took him from the best running back in the game to an afterthought last season with the New York Jets.
With L.T. retiring, today we take a look to see where he ranks as far as the Top Five Chargers players of all-time.
5. Antonio Gates: Tight End
One of the greatest tight ends in NFL history, Antonio Gates was originally an undrafted player out of Kent State University in 2003. Furthermore, Gates was featured as a 2 sport athlete most of his life playing both basketball and football. As a matter of fact, he even contemplated entering the NBA Draft but opted to stay with his passion, football. His great size (6 foot 4, 260 pounds) makes him virtually un-guardable as well as his great hands. He has already been selected to 8 Pro-Bowls and was made a member of the NFL 2000’s all decade team.
