Jaguars rookie wide receiver Justin Blackmon has undergone a great deal of scrutiny since his DUI arrest.
Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union reports fellow receiver Laurent Robinson pulled Blackmon aside yesterday when he saw him in person for the first time since Blackmon’s DUI arrest.
“Just tell him you gotta grow up,” Robinson said. “You know, NFL players are targets, you gotta stay low key, low profile and you know just, everybody makes mistakes and you know he’s gotta learn from it and just keep doing better.”
Blackmon has gotten similar advice from several of his teammates.
“I think the right people have spoken to Justin,” Jaguars offensive tackle Eben Britton said. “I have a lot of faith in him.”
Robinson said he’s seen Blackmon play with an edge since the incident.
“Playing with a little chip on his shoulder,” Robinson said. “Little mad about the whole situation. He’s going to be a pro. We’re going to help him out along the way and he’ll be fine.”
