NFL Players Speak About Lebron’s Historic Night; James Gets Beer Dumped On Him

MVP Heat forward Lebron James
put his foot on the throat of the Celtics and didn’t let up, not smiling once. 19-of-26, 45 points, 15 rebounds,  5 assists, just 4 turnovers, and a +/- of +22 were his stats. That’s the first 45-15-5 game in the postseason in 48 years (Wilt Chamberlain was the last to do it, as a San Francisco Warrior vs. St. Louis Hawks 4/10/64 in West Conference Finals).

Lebron also was resolute after having beer dumped on him by a fan, postgame.

Here’s the NFL’s reaction, via Twitter:

Patriots DT Vince Wilfork, who was sitting front row at the game, censored
“I give credit where credit is due heat beat the sh*t out of us I know game 7 is gonna be a tough one Miami but its not over yet”

Giants WR Victor Cruz
“Seeing Lebron go off in person is unreal.”

Eagles TE Brent Celek
“Lebron James is a straight beast.”

Cardinals K Jay Feely
“Great game by Lebron, willed Heat to victory. Although he Only won the right to a game 7 and another defining moment”

Former Packers WR Desmond Howard
“The fans at TD Garden just #witnessed something special. Pay attention to what former NBA players/coaches/GMs say about @KingJames”

While most of his tweets were about Juwan Howard coming in for in garbage time, MVP Packers QB Aaron Rodgers wrote:
“Ridiculous freedom refs have in calling technical fouls has been highlighted this postseason”

Lebron, Mario Chalmers and Celtics forward Kevin Garnett each were issued technicals.

Here’s some breakdown of Lebron’s stats in elimination games, games in which his teams are 2-6. His Cavs lost the only Game 7 he’s played in, 79-61 to Detroit in the ’06 East semifinals.
