G.J. Kinne and the Jets

If you’ve watched G.J. Kinne play, you can see why Rex Ryan would want him on his team. Kinne displayed grit, leadership ability and smarts as QB at Tulsa. The Jets signed Kinne as an undrafted free agent. He’s also overcome a lot in his background, including being erroneously told his football coach father was dead after a disturbed parent of one of the players shot him.

Statistically, in Kinne’s best season 2010  – in which he was awarded Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year -, he produced more touchdowns than Tebow did in his final season at Florida, and more than for Greg McElroy in any of his seasons at Alabama.

The Jets considered drafting him in the 7th round of the draft. Kinne won the AstroTurf NFLPA Collegiate Bowl MVP earlier in 2012.
