Lions wide out Calvin Johnson has won the title of Madden cover boy for 2012.
Johnson will grace the cover it was announced today in Times Square. The wide out won a 52 percent-to-48 percent vote over Panthers QB Cam Newton for the honor when ‘Madden 13′ is released August 28th.
More than 19.5 million votes were cast through the course of the tournament.
Last season Johnson wrapped up a monster season with 1681 yards with 16 touchdowns as he helped the Lions get to the postseason.
Megatron is the second wide receiver to appear on the cover of Madden. Cardinals’ Larry Fitzgerald was on the front of Madden NFL 10, joined by Steelers safety Troy Polamalu.
2012 was the third time that the cover of Madden came down to a fan vote. Last season the vote went to Browns RB Peyton Hillis, who had such a bad season he bolted the team this offseason for Kansas City.
