Cardinals Come to Terms with Free Agent Safety James Sanders

Free agent safety James Sanders has agreed to a one-year contract with the Cardinals.

A 2005 fourth round pick out of Fresno State by the Patriots, Sanders had 341 tackles, one sack and eight interceptions in his six seasons in Foxborough before he was released after last year’s lockout.

Signed to a one-year deal by the Atlanta Falcons, the 5-foot-10, 210-pound Sanders started six of 15 games and recorded 41 tackles and three passes defensed in 45 percent of the team’s defensive snaps last season. Sanders adds veteran depth to the back-end of a Cardinals defense that played a large part of last season without starter Kerry Rhodes.
