Maybe it’s an April Fool’s joke, but it sounds legit that running back Ricky Williams wants back in the NFL to play with the Chargers, his hometown team.
Bill Williamson of ESPN.com reports that Williams said on the radio this week that he has filed his retirement papers, and he’s thinking about coming back to play for San Diego.
Williams ranks 26th on the all-time rushing list with 10,009 yards. He walked away after playing with the Ravens this past season as backup to Ray Rice. Last season he ran for 444 yards on 108 carries.
The Chargers could use a big experienced backup running back and Williams would fill the role.
