Buffalo Bills Come to Terms with Free Agent LB Mario Williams

The Bills struck the free agent market hard on Thursday, landing prized free agent linebacker Mario Williams according to Jason LaCanfora from NFL Network.

The report says that the Bills will announce the deal at a 1:30pm EST news conference.

Williams and the Bills met early in free agency on Tuesday, but it was thought he would take his services elsewhere after the two sides didn’t get a deal done right away.

Instead, the Bills kept the heat up on Williams, wining and dining him on a week when the weather in Buffalo was very spring like for this time of the year.

Williams leaves the Bills as a two-time Pro Bowl selection who owns a Texans franchise-best 53 career sacks, including a team single-season best 14 in 2007.

He played just five games for the playoff bound Texans after tearing a chest muscle. He also missed three games in 2010 after having surgery to repair a sports hernia.

  1. DTL says:

Good signing. But the question remains if they REALLY have a franchise QB in Ryan Fitzpatrick. His numbers and record both tanked miserably after he signed his big deal.
