The Seattle Seahawks have had their feelers out to the top 3 available names on the quarterback market.
So far 2 of those feelers have been snapped off.
With Peyton Manning spurning the Seahawks and a supposed-to-visit Chad Henne spurning them and a potential trip northwest for the Jaguars it would be safe to assume that Seattle will turn it’s focus to making Matt Flynn their long term solution at quarterback.
Flynn is set to visit on Thursday and I would not expect him to leave Seattle without his hancock on a contract. Most media talking heads agree that selecting Ryan Tannehill at No. 12 overall would be a reach, although not preposterous, I personally would find it difficult to argue that there is sure fire proof that Tannehill is a better prospect then Flynn.
Seattle has had success taking from the Green Bay tree of quarterbacks and have an inside perspective on Flynn given GM John Schneider played a big role in drafting him.
Brett Favre, Matt Hasselbeck, Aaron Rodgers; not terrible company to be amongst.
Seattle is also hosting a pair of the top available lineman in free agency. DT Jason Jones left St. Louis without a contract and is heading to Seattle for a visit.
Former Seahawk All-Pro OG Steve Hutchinson is also set to visit, and in all honesty as surprising as it’s been to most (from what i’ve seen), it doesn’t surprise me at all. Unless the team re-signs free agent LeRoy Hill there are literally no members of the team, players or coaches, left from when Hutchinson and the Seahawks had that messy divorce 6 years ago. All that time, 4 pro bowls, and a bunch of dollars and personnel changes later, the wound appears to have scabbed over and flaked off.
Maybe the Seahawks will finally wise up and replace that gaping hole at left guard Hutchinson left behind after the Super Bowl, with, well,
