Forget whatever I just posted, Jim Trotter dropped a flipping bombshell just now.
Apparently the Seahawks are not only “kicking the tires” on Peyton Manning as John Clayton of ESPN suggested.
According to Trotter, they are willing to go “all in” on not only Peyton Manning, but his former No. 1 receiver Reggie Wayne. They are also willing to “adjust the offense to what Manning is accustomed to running”
This is by far the most serious report I have seen regarding interest in Peyton Manning that also shows a willingness to sign Mannings favorite target as well.
Rich Cimini of ESPN has also come out citing league sources stating that “the Seahawks are willing to spend handsomely on Peyton Manning. He also has tweeted:
“Hearing from a league source the Seahawks will come out, checkbook blazing, for Manning”
What makes this perhaps even more notable is that this is a New York Jets writer, and the New York Jets have been a rumored destination. His previous tweet regarding Jets interest in Manning was much more mild, take it for what you will but when another teams beat writer is using more passionate language for a team he doesn’t cover then a team he does cover regarding the same player, I think it means something:
“As we reported last week, the
#Jets will check into Peyton Manning even though Sanchez remains their guy.”
If this happens, well, prepare for pandemonium in Seattle, and luckily I will be on break in Seattle for it in a couple days. I don’t care if he’s 36, this is the biggest free agent EVER.
