Could the Cleveland Browns and St.Louis Rams Make a Deal for the #2 Overall Pick?

Rumors have come out with the combine ongoing that the Rams are interested in moving out of the two spot, but also that QB Robert Griffin III is NOT going to fall past that elusive two position.

That means, if the Browns can’t land Matt Flynn and want RG3, they are going to have to find a way to move up with Pat Shurmur’s old team that he was the OC of just two seasons ago.

Shurmur said Thursday at the NFL Scouting Combine that the Browns are up for wheeling and dealing with their two first-round picks, including trading them to the Rams at No. 2 to select Griffin.

As much as I like RGIII, I do not think that the Browns should give up 2 First Round picks to get him. I also do not think that they should give up any draft picks to get Matt Flynn. I think they have another option with Tannenhill from Texas A&M. The Browns draft should proceed like this:

    1. Justin Blackmon
1A. DE Nick Perry from USC or Mercilus from Illinois
    2. QB Tannenhill from Texas A&M
    3. OT best available
    4. Outside Linebacker best avaialable
    4A. RB best available
    5. WR Nick Toon from Wisconsin Posey from Ohio State or BJ Cunningham from Michigan State
    6. DT best available
    7. LB best available

RG3 immediately come in as a “franchise QB”, which is what Cleveland has lacked since 99′. He also brings media attention to Cleveland and will be the face of a city that desperately needs one. Meaning primetime games and attention. This draft has talent in the later rounds and receiver should be brought in by free agency, whether it be Garcon or Djax. Then, take a crisp route runner who can get open in zone, Danny Coale out of VT or AJ Jenkins out of Illinois. Find a RT by getting Jared Gaithers or bring in Hutchinson from Minny. I also like the RB out of SDSU as a 4th rounder, because in this league RB’s are a dime a dozen. GO BROWNS!!!!
