Roddy White Unhappy With Roger Goodell’s Salary

Roddy White went on a Twitter rant recently. Here are some highlights:
“How in the h*ll can u pay a man this much money that cant run tackle or catch”
Roger Goodell is getting over never seen anything like it 20 million for looking over the league with tremendous help I guess the NFL is banking”
“The NFL is not a company it’s a nonprofit organization that makes a lot of profit.”
A follower brought up the enormous amount of money the NFL makes, and how, thus, Roger Goodell is running an enormous business. He shot back:
“Thats the stupidest thing i have ever heard the players make this league dont ever forget that”

There are so many factors at play here. The scientific findings on concussions and sub-concussive damage may have given players a fresh perspective on how much money they should receive. It’s also true that – like in MLB and NBA – the leagues need the stars (especially with this economy) more than the stars need the leagues.

Generally speaking, though: in the real world, you’d get in trouble for publicly questioning how much your boss makes. Maybe White has conditioned himself to believe that he plays for Arthur Blank, since Blank writes the checks, but Roger Goodell is still the supreme overlord of the National Football League.

Whatever the case, I like how candid Roddy White can be. He probably has some frustration from reaching the postseason 3 different times and not getting a victory yet. He and Julio Jones do look promising as a tandem.

Hit “Like” if you think Roddy White and Julio Jones are going to be the best tandem in the NFC in 2012, better than Hakeem Nicks/Victor Cruz, Greg Jennings/Jordy Nelson, Miles Austin/Dez Bryant, and Larry Fitzgerald/Randy Moss (wishful thinking).
