Rex’s Mouth May Have Kept The Jets From Victor Cruz

Check this out. I’m one of those people who thinks Rex Ryan’s mouth is perfect for football. It’s such a violent game that I think you need a coach who will show the utmost confidence in his players and be his own brutal critic.

Yet, it’s possible that Rex’s straight-shooting kept him from Victor Cruz. According to this article by Mike Garafolo in the Star-Ledger, one of the factors that kept the Giants from releasing him was that he would not have been able to be placed on the practice squad. Giants senior vice president of player evaluation Chris Mara indicates that he was pretty sure the Jets were going to take him if they waived him.

Rex said in the post-game for their preseason tilt: “I hope they cut him. I know one team that would be ready to sign him, and that’d be us.”

This season, Victor Cruz caught 1536 yards. That’s more than Roddy White, Larry Fitzgerald, Terrell Owens, Vincent Jackson, Reggie Wayne, Brandon Marshall, Cris Carter, and Andre Reed have ever had in any season.

Hit “Like” if you are a fan of Victor CRUUUUUUUUZ.
