Patriots Release WR Underwood the Day Before Super Bowl XLVI

The Patriots are still busy making roster moves 24 hours before Super Bowl XLVI, as the team has announced the release of wide receiver Tiquan Underwood.

To replace Underwood, defensive end Alex Silvestro has been signed off the practice squad.

Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers, Silvestro has spent most of 2011 on the Patriots’ practice squad, appearing in the Patriots’ 27-24 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 16.

Underwood caught three passes for 30 yards in six regular season games for the Patriots and was active for the team’s first two playoff games. Underwood’s release is a sign that Chad Ochocinco will play on Sunday.
